Peel law association v. pieters, 2013 onca 396: Appeal from an order of the divisional court quashing a decision of hrto (human rights tribunal of ontario) Mr. pieters and mr. noble were counsel in a proceeding at a brampton. During a break they went to a peel law association lawyer"s lounge that only admits lawyers and law students in. Ms. firth (library"s administrator) asked for proof via identification that they were lawyers or law students and could indeed be inside the lounge. They were awarded each for damages to their dignity after the vice-chair recognized that their rights had been infringed. Evidence showed that despite the administrator claiming she had not asked for. Id from everybody in the room because she "recognized everyone else" and knew that they were all permitted to be there, two people were completely new and one was not even a lawyer.
