Canada has a total of 14 legislatures: this include 10 provinces, 3 territories and the federal government. Each province and territory has a legislature, located in its capital city: practices generally follow those of the federal house of commons, only exception is quebec who has a different one. Canada operates on the principles of a responsible government this requires executives to maintain the confidence of their respective assemblies in order to continue ruling: lord durham (on final exam) In order for a government to stay in power you have to have the support of the majority (50% + 1) Key foundation of the actual process of the legislatures. If you have the minority government, you can call an election when the majority government is split. Fixed elections in the usa cause problems because they are so many elections: also, in the usa politicians are always in election mode.
