Direct democracy: ciizens are directly involved in the decision-making process: relies on referendums. Indirect democracy: poliical system of representaion in which ciizens elect a delegate to act on their behalf: representaive democracy. Indirect democracy requires elecions: giving authority to individuals to make decisions for the whole poliical community. Historically systems were highly discriminatory: discriminaion based on age, gender, economic status, race, literacy, and criminal behaviour. Canada discriminates by allowing only ciizens and 18+ Elecions represent that aspect of voter-government relaionship that occurs at the federal , provincial, and municipal levels of democracy. Every country restricts who can run for oice. Paries: an organizaion that seeks to gain and maintain poliical power: independent: a candidate without party ailiaion. Elecions are divided into consituencies or ridings: atempt to create equitable and fair ridings. Enumeraion: process of determining the number of individuals eligible to vote in a riding. It"s the process of giving one poliical party an advantage over another party.
