PHIL 1010 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: For Marx, Proletariat, Productive Forces
Document Summary
For marx, the working class people spend many hours working for a living. The capitalist does not need to work every single day because they have workers working for them- they are the owners of the means of production. They control, they are the ones who decide what moves, what is produced, how it is produced, they have the capital. Capital is money, also part of the means of production. It is possible in the capitalist for anybody to move out of their class, but it not a possibility for the vast majority of people. For the working class of the first world )the world of the industrialized countries, the most developed countries) Today, contemporary marxists would argue that the first world proletariat is very different from the third world one. The first world one has more money, more money to spend, higher wage, better living conditions. Third world proletariats done have these things and are very easy to exploit.
