Healthy aging does occur: changes in cell structure and function occur with age, but may not have an impact on and individual"s functioning declines do occur, but not all are inevitable. Some things are certain: change in body composition, reduction in physical resilience, change in food and/or nutrient intake. Nutrition: oral health, sensory properties, body composition, skeletal structure, gait and balance, skin, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, appetite and thirst, kidneys, other. Oral health- teeth: dentures, chewing capacity approximately 20-25% of natural teeth, less bone and gum at bottom, when teeth are removed less stability, large portion wear ill fitted dentures, fungal infection, ulcerations. Hyperplasia: bone shrinkage, partial dentures, clip to existing teeth, gum irritation, plaque buildup.
