People don"t always study disco: dance is not studied as much. More emphasis put on mind, spirit and intelligence rather than the body. Value of mind over body: africans are perceived as more about mind than the body. The fact that african music is so uncivilized has now made african music more popular because people wanted to listen to more natural sounding music. Gets art away from the repressed western civilization. Ensemble of musicians playing a berimbau (stick and sting) 3 in the ensemble (high middle low) Traditionally two male dancers: improvised choreographed martial arts dance. Anyone in new world (north america etc) with parents from elsewhere: i. e. european creel. Some kind of african american or european french. British take over nova scotia: french wasn"t down so they got kicked out. Later started to record this music: standardization from others wanting to remake the recordings.
