The taisho emperor had a very different persona than the meiji emperor that was his father. The taisho period is seen as either a period of development or degeneration. Many journals and newspapers came out and tried to express what was happening in. Way in which the economy would be structures after the bankruptcy japan after the quake: zaibatsu (financial clique) enormous companies: sumitomo, mitsui, mitsubishi, yasuda, nissan. Many zaibatsu still have lots of power today. These companies were sold off by the meiji. They all had many smaller companies that held big monopolies and had a huge amount of control over many sectors. By 1928 only a few hundred zaibatsu owned most of japans companies, some call this the slave state period in japan. Americans wanted to abolish these zaibatsu when they occupied japan after the war. Mount fuji the treasure of japan, women were once forbidden from climbing mount.
