Liberal party, under king in power during depression. Thought it was just seasonal unemployment & that relief was a municipal responsibility. Labour party leader said that gov should put forth money for relief. King was prepared to give money to liberal provinces, but nothing to conservative supporters. King refused to acknowledge the depression/do anything about it. Bennet (con) = he"ll fix the depression; he was a millionaire and out of touch with what the average person were experiencing, but he was sympathetic.
