Archives nationales first truly national & modern archive (cid:1) Built for a place to hold and preserve government records. Vatican has 70 year rule before documents can be publicized, Archives can be national, provincial, county, city, trans-national. The making of meaning: where to put things so that they fit in, where they would make sense to be found, meaning is dependent on the material the document is placed beside.
