Taking place at the lateran palace in rome (similar to the un headquarters today) Heresy: belief or opinion contrary to orthodox religious doctrine (still worship the god they are supposed to, but they take liberties with the beliefs) Apostasy:: abandonment or renunciation of a religious or political belief. Apostates are people who commit this spiritual offence. Christians were coming into contact with other religious as a result of the crusades. Clear distinction between religions but not between catholics and heretics. Byzantine"s prevented christians from crusades going where they needed to go. You have to be a priest first, then a bishop, archbishop, cardinal and then maybe a pope (just takes a long ass time) Fourth crusade hailed constantinople as _______: victory of schematics, side note: amid intercultural nature of crusades, papacy couldn"t advocate for intolerance.
