In 1979 the green party is elected into german parliament in 1983. The soviet union polluted the environment without and restraint, and west germany felt the effects of that. Brazil attempted to start rapid industrialization which resulted in massive environmental loss, much of which came from the amazon. The disaster in bhopal, india on december 2, 1984. Union carbide was an american company that produced chemicals in india. Accidently spilled chemicals in water, killing around 10,000 people and affecting another. The plant had received many complaints and had no emergency plan. After a court trial the company was forced to pay million. One of the model cities of the soviet union, if you got a job in the city you were doing well. It took three weeks to stop the nuclear reactor from omitting radiation. 17 million acres of the best farm land in the country were contaminated.
