England would be government by a monarch and a parliament- constitutional monarchy. Only about 20,000 male landowners can vote. Great britain gained a prime minister robert walpole (1676-1745) Huge debt- due to the wars france had fought. Protestantism connected with a new way of living, active in the home, family and making/saving money. Change in home life/ place of rest and recreation. Husband and wife joined in love not economic gain. Men worked, women worked in the home. Coffeehouses a place where men could read, and discuss the news of the day. Intellectual movement: many opinions, build off of the scientific revolution. Britain does not persecute based on religion. Wanted to apply scientific realities to human life. Challenged the catholic church especially arch enemy.
