Human geography: its nature and scope (chapter 1) Considered to be a fundamental or basic dimension of what happens on earth. Everything that happens have space and time coordinates. Major events that happen in our lives, all have date and location. Understand where something happens, emphasizes the importance of an events location. Location provides information that allow us to understand and explain an event. Geographical knowledge is based on our understanding of different places: uniqueness of places: every place on earth has unique and distinctive features. It gives the local residence a source of identity. Influences the culture ( beliefs, values, attitudes and behaviours) of that place: influence and meaning of places: places will influence our well-being (in terms of health, wealth, life- styles). Certain places will have a recollection of a historic event. Places can acquire a special meanings in our minds.
