Children who have experiences trauma may have social and emoional distress. Educators/school support teams can help a child or youth who have experienced trauma. 90% of public mental health clients have been exposed to trauma. Canadian study of 187 adolescents with trauma histories reported the 42% have post traumaic. American study of 100 adolescent inpaients reported that 93% had trauma histories ptsd. 70-90% incarcerated girls had histories of sexual, physical and emoional abuse. Examples of traumaic experiences physical or sexual abuse. The death or loss of a loved one. Life threatening health situaions and /or painful medical procedures. Witnessing or experiencing community violence (shooings, stabbings, robbery, or ighing at home, in the neighborhood or at school) Witnessing police acivity or having a close relaive incarcerated. Acts or threats of terrorism (viewed in person or on television) Living in chronically chaoic environments in which housing and inancial resources are not consistently available.
