Everything is important to have in an individuals life. Not always met in a child"s life: when they are not met; the matthew effect. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The need for: ongoing nurturing relationships, physical protection, safety and regulation, experiences tailored to individual differences, developmentally appropriate experiences, limit setting, structure, and expectations, stable, supportive communities and cultural continuity, developmental theories. Intelligence is a form of equilibrium toward which all cognitive structures tend: eternal harmony, calm. Equilibrium: intellectual activity is undertaken to produce a balances, harmonious, relationship between one"s thought processes and the environment. Cognitive stress: strain on cognitive processing: child sees 4 legged animal; learns it is a dog. Child sees a cow, and assumes it is a dog.
