The north american family is close to becoming a domestic institution. Domestic institution - the family institution is bigger than the sum of it"s parts. Women have increased in the labour force. The relationship between work and family is dynamic and changes across the lifespan. Older men retiring and taking part in child care. Education is connected to a variety of advantages: Education is something we do early in life that impacts us later in life. Gender difference in the relationship between education and the family: Women more likely to end up in a less flexible career. All the babies had access to western style medicine except the namibian baby. Mongolian and namibian moms both returned to work almost immediately but they are from more agrarian societies. We saw the japanese and american babies going to daycare and caregiver/baby play groups.
