Cross cultural: compare data on family life among diferent kids of societies, margaret mead. Historical: compare census, social agency or demographic data to determine patterns of family life. Longitudinal: use questionnaires or interviews over a number of years to follow up on earlier investigations. Content analysis: type of qualitative research. Systematic examination of cultural artifacts of various forms of communicate to determine themes. Microsystem: consists of people and objects in an individual"s immediate environment who are closest to them. Mesosystem: what happens in one microsystem will inluence the others, bad day at work/school = grumpy at home. Exosystem: social setting that you might not experience irst hand or indirectly but still inluences development. Macrosystem: subcultures and cultures that the other three systems are embedded in, broader social and cultural context the family lives, attitudes, beliefs, and heritage of the culture. Chronosystem: all the systems change over time not static but ever changing, examples of changes.
