Romantic/ passionate love: attribution of arousal to another person. Bridge study (dutton & aron, 1974) video: women stopped men on bridge and asked to answer questionnaire- men on scary bridge called her- not scary bridge less did. Cause of heart beat men may have thought more in love feelings than on safer bridge. Its not just positive or fear arousal , just the fact that they are arousal- misattributed arousal. Older = longer relationships and greater number of relationships. More likely to believe in love at first sight. More stock in passion passion is most related to men"s satisfaction in relationships. Collectivist cultures: identity in terms of the relationships they hold with others. E. g. prearranged marriages; good for the entire group. Individualistic cultures: identity in terms of personal attributes. E. g. select partners based on individual reasons; being in love. Jealousy: intolerant or hostile emotional response to a real or imagined threat to a love relationship.
