The overall goal of the course is to illustrate the role and use of pesticides by various facets of society and the effect of these pesticides on biological activities in the environment. The introductory section of each unit will begin with five questions (hopefully intriguing) that you should be able to answer by the end of the unit. For example, these are some of the questions that you will be asked to consider throughout the course: The second part of each introduction will provide a brief description of the individual, group and class activities for the unit or week. Each introduction concludes by putting the information presented in the unit into a broader context. The pesticides and the environment units and assignments are inter-related. As you work through the course and assignments, you should take time to consider the inter- relationships among the topics covered.
