Untreated waste water can contain up to 20mg per liter of p that is more than 1000x higher than what s considered meson eutrophic in a lake. Before phosphorus debate almost 50% of p in wastewater came from detergents. Half of the phosphorus in waste water is from detergents. Lake washington had the most issues with phosphorus. The report had 19 recommendations ti reduce phosphate and detergents be reduced to minimum. Phosphate in sewage to be reduced by 50% n municipal waste.
