Poet laureate from 1850"s during queen victoria"s reign. Known as the poet of the people, widely read during victorian era. First to be read to the peerage, earned lordship based on his writing. Composing the idylls in 1833, not published until 1837. Would compose in his head because his eyesight was so bad would just write down the final copy. Three a"s: king arthur, prince albert and alfred tennyson. In tennyson, guinevere is in convent when arthur meets her, doesn"t go until after arthur dies in mallory. Written in blank verse: meaning unrhymed poetry, usually but not always iambic pentameter ( 5 beats, emphasis on second ) Lancelot and guinevere meeting for last time before going their separate ways. Private lives are mad public by morded. Mordred usurps arthur while he is away fighting. In convent there is a novice presented to guinevere to keep her company (talks about the queen as wicked, doesn"t know who guinevere is)
