Document Summary
Unit 9: protecting your digital data and device. Cybercrime refers to any crime that is committed through the use of a computer or a network. It is a broad classification of criminal activities, which can be just as harmful if not more so than physical crime. It is critical for all computer users to be aware of and take precautions against cybercrime, lest they become victims of it. There are a lot of different types of cybercrime, although the kinds that the average computer user should be concerned about are those directed at individual computer users. Financial scams: the goal of financial scams is to steal money from an individual, often by tricking them into paying for a non-existent product or fake charges. Authority scams: the goal of authority scams is to gain access to sensitive information by making an individual believe that they are in contact with a person with the authority to demand it.
