Looked at a drop of water through his own microscope --> saw lots of moving creatures! But --> doesn"t mean they can"t survive better than us! After nucleus (dna packaged inside nucleus) = eukaryote. The cell theory (1800s) - schleiden & schwann. The cell is the structural unit of life. Before nucleus (dna scattered in cytoplasm) = prokaryote. Robert hooke --> introduced word cell into biology (1665) Protists / fungi / plants / animals. Not really how cells look while they"re living! The cell wall is actually not part of the cell itself! (extracellular!) The mistake robert hooke made while defining cell! (b/c the cells he saw was actually just the cell walls that were left!) Resolve / resolution = how well we can distinguish 2 dots that are very close together. Why certain things will appear blurry in a microscope!
