The physical or behavioral traits of organisms that lead to increased survival or reproducion. Organisms adapt to environmental change through natural selecion. Individuals within a populaion vary: a whole group of organisms that have diferent traits. 1: some of the variaion among individuals can be passed on to their ofspring: parents and ofspring resemble each other, populaions of organisms produce more ofspring than will survive, survival and reproducion are not random: Fitness: relaive survival and reproducion of individuals in a populaion. Adaptaion: traits that increase individual itness in an environment. Example: they are the same species, variaion in beak size. Only the birds with the large beaks survived due to natural selecion. Darwin: natural selecion is a major cause of evoluion.
