Gender roles typically women are seen as doing housework, raising children and cooking. Men"s work is seen as more prestigious however roles are changing. Women are acknowledged as the sustainers of life. Children"s first friends are usually their own age. At specific ages, were allowed to do things such as drive, vote and drink. Among the ju/"hoansi age has no meaning. The elderly population is growing by 2026 1/5 people will be elderly. Age grade category of people based on age; everyone passes through a series of such categories during their lifetime. Age set a group of people born in the same time period. Associations not based on age, kinship or marriage but from the act of joining. Eg - madd, religious affiliations, support groups.
