The primate order is the group of mammals that includes lemurs, lorises, tarsiers, monkeys, apes, and humans. It is important to study primates because our roots are entwined in the ancestors from these living primates. A process that organisms undergo to achieve a bene cial adjustment to an available environment, plus the results of that process: natural selection. The evolutionary mechanism by which individuals with characteristics best suited to a particular environment survive and reproduce with greater frequency than those without them adjustment to an available environment, plus the results of that process. Natural selection favours not just the survival of well-adapted individuals, but the propagation of their genetic traits. This led to important physical adjustments to life in the trees and o the ground.
