How you feed depends on target market for product. Feed is 60-75% of total costs of production. On birds generally markets at 32-50 days of age depending on target market. Age at slaughter affects diet composition fed to birds. Decreased protein, eaa, minerals over the lifetime. Structure and muscle deposition has already be done before finishing phase. Live weight, carcass weight, meat yield, breast yield (21% live bw) Breast yield drives the value of the carcass. Other parts like the wings are very competing. Usually males have a greater nutrient requirement than females do exception for feather deposition, females need more met for feather. Back then in on, they separate sexes because processing plants have automatic sorting by live weights. The rest of the world put them in mix. Males are heavier than female at 38-42 days of age when marketed. Not worried about them breeding when put in mix because slaughter occurs long before they reach sexual maturity.
