Subsistence agriculture: farmers grow only enough food to feed their families (<2 ha of space) Implications: little margin for crop losses before/after harvest or land/food for other needs: though there are little taxes, this means that there is little for schools, hospitals, and other services. Lesson 2: africa and african nations are huge. No: for agriculture: there is the potential for a lot of arable land. Lesson 3: africa is the only continent to be located dead-center with respect to the equator. Lesson 4: many people and farms are located where there is a good year- round temperature, such as western africa. Lesson 5: africa has mountains, especially in the east and northwest. Lesson 6: the location of mountains dictates where africans live in the hot, dry subtropics due to the presence of rivers. Lesson 7: many people (and farms) in africa are located in the mountains in east and nw africa.
