Some view marx as the father of modern sociology and he is responsible for bringing the concept of class to the forefront in sociology. Marx"s analysis of class structure and his hypothesis of what future societies will look like has stimulated extensive discussion and debate. Marx discussed changed in society and observed the industrial transformation of europe. At the time, no one"s analysis was quite as observant as marx"s. During this time, production was vastly increased and britain became the predominant industrial power. Hinterland/metropolis thesis- people from the metropolis make decisions regarding the fate of the hinterland and its resources. At the time, britain extracted the resources from the hinterland, processed them and sent them back as manufactured products.
