Challenges two assumption of politial economists: conditions of capitalist productions characterize all forms of political, economic relations can be treated independently of social relations economy. Response: capitalism is not a universal system of produxtion, particular kind of economy presupposes a particular kind of economy. The more capitalism advances, the more improversished the workers become: increased wealth that capitalism makes possible, popular usage, marx usage, social psychological, structural condition characteristic of the specific historical and socaial context of capitalism. You are or not alienatied: relational term. You must be alienated from something: worker from the product and processes of labour. Labour process: defines the human species, labour is the creative interplay of man & environment, man is above all homo faber (man the maker) Under capitalism : man is alienated from the product and process of labour, workers create an economic system through their own labour.
