Some argue that the house of commons is the center of power in canada. 1 person 1 vote is entrenched constitutional law: every citizen of canada has the right to vote in an election of members of the house of commons or of a legislative assembly and to be qualified for membership therein. For political representation to take place, you need: 1. representatives should listen to my concerns and legislate to my interests: delegate (does this belong here?) 3. representatives should deliberate to arrive to the best policies and solutions. How well the representatives match the population they"re supposed to represent (in terms of interests, race, age, etc). Can"t expect a woman representative to represent the interests of all women (all women have diverse opinions, that cannot be represented by a single woman) A set of representatives need to represent the ideological diversity of the electorate.
