Anarchy: wanted to pursue mercantilism for the purpose of state building. Standing army/navy: financed, organized, maintained by the state. Europeans were relying on mercenaries forces (a soldier for higher, someone who sells their military skills to a higher bitter. If you can"t pay them they wont fight for you. Charles tilly; studied the formation of states: european resources scarcity: europeans began their sources locally. Once europe runs out of resources, you start to expand abroad. Factor in the push of europeans expanding abroad: technological innovation. Once able to build sea worthy ships and navigations, able to have trans-oceanic voyages, resource and human exploitation. Able to cross oceans, able to know where they are and how to get back home. Allowed europeans to make cannon, machine gun: another factor is the social pressures. This re-conquest was a product of a very long war between spanish and north african people known as the moors.
