Document Summary
Interests must be compounded out of desires, relative acts (hoping/wishing) Desire to go hiking -> should get that hip surgery. Morally correct act promotes the interests of the actors. One"s duty is to promote one"s personal interests. Morally right: we have the duty to perform them. Morally wrong: act that fails to fulfill our duty. Pleasure/pain in the present appear large, ones in the future appear small. Does not claim that whatever a person desires is a morally correct act (consider long-run consequences) Is compatible with the view that ethics is a personal matter.
