Document Summary

Ensures optimal soft tissue and bone healing; low serum protein levels and vitamin c deficiencies interfere with tissue healing. Open reduction -- correction of bone alignment through a surgical incision. Often includes internal fixation of the fracture with the use of wire, screws, pins, plates, intramedullary rods, or nails. Early initiation of active rom of the joint is indicated, decreases risk of complications related to prolonged immobility.
