Defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure. Exercise, active transportation, working, playing, chores, and recreation are all physical activity. Postures or activity that require very little movement. Examples include prolonged sitting, watching tv, playing passive video games, extended time spent on the computer for leisure or work, and motorized transportation. Developed by the canadian society for exercise physiology (csep) Sedentary behaviour guidelines describe the recommended amount of time that canadians should reduce their involvement in sedentary pursuits in order to reduce health risks. On a scale relative to an individuals personal capacity, moderate intensity pa is usually a 5/6 on a scale of 10. Generally the person can talk, but not sing during the activity. Person will not be able to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath. Heart rate and breathing rate go up quite significantly.
