Document Summary

Archeologists are skeptical of this because it would not have logically been an earthquake. A lot of mycenaean cities were burnt down but because they did not have modern gas lines or electrical power, an earthquake would not have caused a fire. This is a mythical explanation- there"s no archeological evidence to support this. There is wide debate and speculation about what brought down the mycenaean. Civilization but one cause has not yet been determined. Basically a big step back for humanity. No more state-level militaries or economic organizations. On the bright side, there were some echoes of minoan and mycenaean civilizations preserved in myths, traditions and languages. This was the end of the bronze age. However this did start what was known as the iron age. By 950 bce , most weapons, tools and armor were crafted out of iron.
