Over his reign he expanded the macedonian empire significantly. Had a tumultuous personal life: had six wives for political reasons, emotional and lacked a calm disposition. Father of alexander the great (alexander iii) and set the stage for the expansion of the empire under alexander. Phillip ii was born in pella in macedonia, which was later the location where he would train his military troops: brought forth many of general army reforms. Organized them into regiments (previously fairly undisciplined soldiers) Drilled them heavily and prepared them with strategies and maneuvers.
