Mineral substance must be found and made in nature. Atoms that compose the mineral are arranged in an orderly, repeating three dimensional array. Crystallize from magma, precipitate from solutions such as seawater at the surface, grow in response to t and p deep in the crust. Minerals are unique due to the combination and arrangement of atoms in the internal structures. Mineral chemical composition can vary within defined limits. Some elements can substitute for each other in a crystalline structure. A kidney stone is a hard, crystalline mineral material formed within the kidney or urinary tract. 1 15% of people develop a kidney stone at some point in their life. Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in urine volume and/or an excess of stone- forming substances in the urine. Some people may be more prone to kidney stone formation. Form when person doesn"t drink enough water. Form in the kidney and leave the body in the urine stream.
