Basic level observations: what is the poem actually saying, how is the poem saying it, figures of speech. 1 couplet: monometer, dimeter, trimeter, pentameter, hexameter, heptameter, octameter. Broken rhyme: one word with two or more words. Pararhyme/consonant rhyme: rhyming with similar consonants, different vowels. Vowel/consonant rhyme: rhyming with similar vowels, different consonants. Masculine rhyme: one-syllable rhyme, rhyme occurs on the nal ( rst) stressed syllables. Feminine rhyme: two or more syllables, rhyme is on the second stressed syllable. Wrenched rhyme: rhyming a stressed syllable with an unstressed syllable.
