Document Summary

Stratified sample: you take the population and split them into groups, then take certain samples within each of those groups. More appropriate for pre existing groups that have different number of people in each of them for each of them to be equally represented. Cluster sample: randomly selecting preexisting groups within a sample, then selecting certain groups within that whole group. Example: the population of a school, you"d pick one or two classrooms to sample within that school. If you have to choose two schools to sample from a school district then those two schools chosen are your sample schools to collect data from. Not ideal because the groups that weren"t selected aren"t being represented. Convenience sample: choose a group based on easy accessibility. Voluntary response sample: when people being sampled have a choice. Simple random sample: every person has an equal chance of being selected. Response bias: anytime your response might be bias based on the situation.
