We live now in the age of show business. Elites can slowly strip people of their powers. According to postman children have all but disappeared from television. Suggests that where there are young people, function as miniature adults than as children. He postulates that where they do exist they are less children than miniature adults. Compare something like leave it to beaver or the donna reed show to dawson"s creek. The model of an adult on television is that of a child. Now it"s a scaled down version of adults. Children don"t have distinct needs for clothing, play clothes have disappeared. Less distinction in food tastes that there once was. Leaving behind junk food and candy used to be a marker of adulthood. Child and youth play is an increasingly serious business. Superheroes and modern myths aimed at children are mainstream entertainment for adults. Entry into marriage and other aspects of adult life delayed.
