As the leading country of multicultural policies, we understand multiculturalism as: embracing diversity + also keep society cohesive. Famous for their progressive views red light district, openness/fluidity of morality (drugs, prostitution, gay marriage) they use this openness to attract tourists. Religion: mostly catholic + protestant + secular: dutch context. Multicultural society: a society in which ethnic and religious groups and their cultures are accepted as constiture parts of the host society: ethnic and religious minorities have the same opportunities. Dutch pillar system: gave each religious groups right to establish institutions free of state intervention (but would be government subsidized right to mosques, language training, [mostly about catholic, protestant and secular groups: immigration background.
