The centrality of population in global issues. 2050: middle range estimate is 9. 7 billion. Joel cohen- a doubling of the population in such a short time span is unlikely to ever happen again . This happens because of the excess births over deaths. Migration doesn"t change global populations so births and deaths is the key: human domination of the biosphere: The earth space battery is being discharged even faster to support an ever larger population. The energy per capita has been going up and the total energy consumption is too large. Different analysis about the huge population growth in the 60"s and 70"s. Believed doomsday was friday the 15th of november. It"s a dangerous delusion to envisage mass emigration from earth. There"s nowhere else in the solar system that"s as comfortable as even the top of everest or the south pole.
