Media = represents on the core pedagogical forces in contemporary society (how we learn) Media defines boundaries between groups (contributes to the us-vs-them dichotomy), define social problems so think of the media as gatekeepers as they put things on the public agenda. Media doesn"t necessarily tell us what to think but tells us what to think about. And the media shapes public debates (frames things in certain ways) (i. e. of the spectrum: stigmatized others absolute others). Absolute others: represents what is truly evil: i. e. psychopaths, pedophiles, terrorists typically engaged in such terrible behaviors it seems natural/that we have a moral obligation to reject them. Generally speaking, stigmatized others represent those that are truly powerless in society and absolute others represent those who are truly evil.
