Deviance as subjecive : deviance is socially constructed. Acts become deviant when it is deined as such. Something is deviant if enough important people say so . Issue of tatoos: they"ve become very popular (girls > guys), normally tatoos were seen as a peculiar act and it represented you as deviant (criminals and military people had tatoos). There is a low-consensus on if tatoos are deviant more acceptable (c) crime criminal behaviour is a speciic form of deviance. Crime staisics: standard deiniions of crime enable measurements. Uniform crime reporing system (ucr: gap b/t percepions and reality. Media violent crime, out of control. Reality most crimes are property crimes. Crime has declined since 1991 convenions and non-concenional crimes: convenional what ost people think of as crime, non-convenional . The criminal jusice system: police, courts, correcion services . People are raional decision makers and act to avoid punishment.
