Culture: the values, norms and material goods characteristic of a group. Variety of cultural practices and beliefs and types of societies that go along with those. Marriage: a socially approved sexual relationship between two individuals: same sex relationships still t with cultural universal, ex: of variation in marriage: polygamy (multiple partners), some people choose to stay through in delity etc. Ideal: cultural rules that are publicly embraced by members in society; the guidelines we claim to accept: ex: canadians are nicer than americans, ex: american dream: work hard and you will be successful. Wednesday, january 23, 2019: ex: same cortisol levels as americans so we still get stressed out. However, we keep it in and hide it better than americans: ex: american dream: there are challenged and obstacles; not a true image of equality or opportunity. Some people may not be successful no matter how hard they work.
