Argued that deviance is the result of a weak social bond in individuals. He attempted to use social control logic to explain the conduct of youthful offenders. Social control logic : each one of us has a connection to the world by conventional others. For youth, the world of conventional others is represented by parents, teachers and members of the legitimate adult community. When it comes to youth deviance, if they have better social relationships with their youth leaders (e. g. teachers, counsellors) they"ll be better integrated into society. Strain, cultural support, and control theories encourage a focus on individuals when explaining deviant behaviour. Others believe attention should be directed to situations rather than individuals. Demonstrated that murder can in many cases be understood as a situated transaction an interaction sequence between participants in a common physical territory. You"re not thinking of the why"s and what"s of deviance. You"re thinking of deviance as a particular situation that unfolds.
