PSYCO275 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Parasympathetic Nervous System, Enteric Nervous System, Autonomic Nervous System
Document Summary
Central nervous system (cns) = brain and spinal cord. The brain is attached to the spinal cord through the brain stem. All of our conscious thinking comes from the cerebrum, or the forebrain. The nervous system is divided into the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. Symatic picks up all of the sensory information from the body. The autonomic nervous system admits informations to the brain about your breathing, your heart rate, and many other things that you don"t consciously control. Sympathetic vs. parasympathetic = ght or ight vs. rest and digest. Enteric nervous system is a lining of neurons in our stomach and intestines that regulate digestion and it is like a separate brain in your stomach and has its own input and output. Somatic: voluntary, a erent and e erent nerves, interacts with the environment. Autonomic: involuntary, internal environment, e erent nerves a ect target organ.
