Diicult to acivate future phoneme while deacivaing same (past) phoneme. Current context may be appropriate for a future or past phoneme. Flapping of medial /t/: -addle = -atle: don"t say the t under some contexts. Diicult tongue twisters repeat several similar phonemes in diferent contexts: sort of like spoonerisms, errors can lead to real words. Errors may lead to real words, diicult to correct online. Features depend on context: features that determine a paricular phoneme depend on what is said before/ater, depending on context, a t pphoneme could be interpreted as eg. a d . Ladder vs later: the 2 words spectrogram are exactly the same. Perceive sequence of sounds / words: one ater another, even though there is no physical sequence of sounds, all spread out and overlap etc . Percepion is robust: can hear and understand people under a wide range of condiions (noisy bar, telephone)
