Avoids detection from drug tests: drug tests only identify known chemical structures (novel structures are unrecognized and therefore undetected) Lacks safety testing, so potentially dangerous as the first users are the test population: mechanism of action. General effects: weight gain due to increased muscle mass in a 10-week course of steroids: increased weight by 2-5 kg due to muscle mass gains increase base strength by 5-20% In men, hypogonadism occurs: testicular shrinkage lower sperm cell count, produce less testosterone (feedback loops tell the body there is chronically an excess of testosterone)
